You Don't Need Another Motivational Quote, You Need A Kick in the Ass

But a few motivational videos are okay. Ha! But these are a little different.

Last week, you received a blog post on how 31 entrepreneurs found their first 100 customers. Above all else, you have to appreciate their persistence and their ability to take action.

So for the rest of this month, we’re going to focus on just that: ACTION.

We all have items on a list we need to check off to feel accomplished for the day. Tasks that will push the needle forward and get us one step closer to where we want to be in life. But many of us, including the rest of the world, get distracted.

We make excuses (Oh, I’ll just do it later this week…). We press the snooze button (15 more minutes…). –> our personal favorite We say, “I just don’t have the time” (though we MAKE TIME to binge watch Stranger Things).

We put these distractions in our view, and wonder why we’re not getting the results we want to see in our lives. And somehow, we never make the connection between these 20 tiny deferments that distract us from our daily practice.

“It was character that got us out of bed, commitment that moved us into action, and discipline that enabled us to follow through”. – Zig Ziglar

It’s one thing to have a bunch of ideas, but it takes another mindset to take those ideas and put them into action.

“Ideas are cheap. Ideas are easy. Ideas are common. Everybody has ideas. Ideas are highly, highly overvalued. Execution is all that matters”. – Casey Neistat

It sucks when you start something new, then get distracted.

You know what cycle I’m talking about.

I like to call it “Squirrel Syndrome”. You start, get distracted by (being too tired/being too busy/literally a squirrel/fill in your reason here), until you abandon the idea altogether.

We’ve all been there.

Like no other time in history, we’re overwhelmed with options. We’re so worried with making the right choice, that we become paralyzed and, inevitably, choose no action at all!

Why is it so easy to talk a big game about losing weight…or building your business…or moving to another city…but we make it so difficult to take action?

So, to jumpstart your weekend, we’ve compiled a roundup of videos and an article, for you, about people who talk about what it means to be a leader, how to take action when you’re not sure how or where to start, and how to be unfuckwithable.

These are people who have walked the walk.

Some of these videos are about 1-hour long, each. So get comfortable, put your phone in the other room so you’re not distracted (your phone will be fine), and with love, prepare to have your ass kicked into gear.

You’re welcome.

THE LIST

1.“You Owe You” by Dr. Eric Thomas

ET, a man that has gone from being homeless to becoming a motivational speaker, author, and YouTube sensation – will make you jerk your head back and say, “well, damn!”.

He will not come at you lightly. He doesn’t have time to “tread lightly”. His approach? He will rip your head off with the truth, and then nicely help you place it back on so you can get to work.

2. Simon Sinek at “Live Talks Los Angeles (with a special performance by Aloe Blacc)”

Simon is a fantastic story teller who is an author, consultant, and speaker that talks about leadership, management, and service to others.

He constantly jokes that he’s “surprised he has a job doing this. There should be no need for my services”.

3. “Rescuing Yourself, Overcoming Fear, and Finding Success By Serving Others with Lisa Nichols” by Inside Quest

One of the world’s most requested motivational speakers, authors, and media personalities. With $12 to her name, hear the detailed story on how she turned it around.

4. "Advice to a Young a Man That Many of You Need" by Gary Vaynerchuk

You google the words “take action” and this guy’s face might show up, on the first page, of course. Gary is a builder of business’, that took his family business from $3M to $60M in five years.

With a number of accolades under his belt (Vaynermedia, investor in Birchbox, author, speaker, etc.) he’s earned the unofficial title as the “King of Rise and Grind”.

You might want to listen to what he has to say. It’s f**kin’ good…

5. “The 30 Commandments of Working For Yourself: How to Slay like an Unf*ckwithable Boss” by Ash Ambirge

We have a special love for Ash. Not only is she one of the most badass copywriters out there, she’s in your face (with f-bombs galore) about her thoughts on how to take control of your life and be an un-fuck-withable boss.

Read her commandments if you want to see how this woman gets things done (with some “actual laugh out loud – did she just say that??”, tongue in cheek humor).

Now, we’re honest with ourselves…

We don’t expect you to watch, or read, every single one of these.

Hell, we hope that after watching #1 – it will shock you out of any doubts you have EVER HAD and propel you to run towards the life you’ve always wanted like a T-Rex is on your tail!

Whether you watch one video, or read Ash Ambirge’s article, or check out all five links (because they’re all magnificent) our greatest hope here at Strikingly is that afterwards, it will propel you to take action and get sh*t done.

You owe it to yourself.
